Name : Aliereth Vaelika Kimara Larael t’Leiya
Race : Romulan
Place of Birth : Romulus
Home Planet : Earth
Age : 92
Height : 5’9"
Weight : 164 lbs.
Physical Description: Physically a taller and older deadringer for her oldest daughter, Commander Kalahaiea t'Leiya, with the exception of her hair, which she wears barely shoulder-length and shorter than any of her children's. Still in the prime of her life at barely more than 90, she appears roughly as a human in their 40's might and takes great care with her physical conditioning.
History
The eldest of a senator's oldest child's four children, Aliereth was groomed from infancy to someday inherit her grandmother's titles and duties, in succession to her father. She entered the Romulan military in her early 20's, spending the customary years as a cadet at the Imperial War College before her first assignment in her late twenties as an engineering officer aboard a warbird.
A classic beauty by Romulan standards — not to mention the heir to a powerful family and political dynasty — Aliereth was courted by many in her youth but seemed to show interest in none, before finally announcing her intent to marry Tal, the eldest surviving child of a family who were political allies of her grandmother's, when she was in her late 40's. The two young officers were married in a lavish ceremony that was the talk of the capital for some time, as their bonding united two very powerful families. Roughly ten years later, the pair sought a five-year posting to the homeworld in order to attempt to begin their family; intending to raise their child there for several years before leaving their son or daughter in the care of their extended family per custom and returning to shipboard duty.
Their time in the capital, however, served only to reinforce a growing realization among both that the Tal Shiar had gained far too much power over the last century, and even senators — even the Praetor — had to fear them. Slowly, the two began to realize that should they someday inherit the posts they were destined for, they would never be able to fully speak their minds and fulfill those duties as their ancestors had; and after several years of quiet deliberation, the impending birth of their first child forced a decision and they made up their minds to leave the Empire, viewing it an irreparable stain on their personal honor should they claim to fulfill such duties falsely. They quietly set their affairs in order, then resigned their commissions and left Romulus on a merchant vessel which took them as far as a Romulan colony world. From there, the pair embarked on a six-month odyssey to cross the neutral zone and make their way into Federation space, a journey which involved no small amount of danger considering the caliber — or lack thereof — of the ships they were forced to book passage on, nor the ever-present threat of pursuit by the Tal Shiar or other entities. Upon their arrival in Federation space, the two announced their intent to defect to the Federation, and were eventually resettled on Earth, where their eldest daughter was born in short order.
Aliereth found her engineering skills and her combat skills alike to be somewhat useless as a means of employment on Earth, considering the rather substantial differences between Romulan and Federation technologies; and instead made use of the knowledge of galactic affairs her social rank had accorded her by becoming a university professor in the subject, specializing in the Beta Quadrant. She has found the years of separation from her people and the extended family she would otherwise have to be difficult to bear, however;most especially separation from her sister Caithlin, to whom she was extremely close. She and Tal, worn down by years of loneliness and fearing attempting to raise their youngest three children alone, followed their eldest, Commander Kalahaiea t'Leiya, to the Gateway Sector when she was posted there, and later to Starbase Aeon. Aliereth continues to teach her university classes remotely.
Notes Of Interest
In addition to Romulan and Federation Standard, Aliereth speaks Vulcan and Tholian. She is skilled in several Romulan martial arts and with both long and short blades, and is an expert shot with a disruptor. She also enjoys hiking, hoverboarding, and building her own computers. She has never lost the regal bearing of her former station in life, nor the ironclad personal control imparted to her by her decades of service in the fleet. Most will find her to be elegant, gracious, and charming, a typical member of Romulan high society in her controlled, carefully focused passion…Unless they cross her or most especially threaten her children, at which point they will instead find her to be devious, ruthless, unyielding, and utterly dangerous.

Name : Tal Sereth Avelik N'Jael t’Leiya
Race : Romulan
Place of Birth : Romulus
Home Planet : Earth
Age : 95
Height : 5’11"
Weight : 178 lbs.
Physical Description: Slender yet powerful in build, Tal puts a great deal of effort into his appearance and his physique. He still wears his hair in a style somewhat reminiscent of that he wore during his years in the fleet, albeit slightly less severe, and appears as a human in their 40's might.
History
Tal was the second eldest of a senator's oldest child's three children; however when he was eight years old, the death of his older brother in battle profoundly altered the trajectory of his life, placing him in line to someday inherit his grandfather's titles and duties, in succession to his mother. He entered the Romulan military in his early 20's and spent the requisite years as a cadet at the Imperial War College, later undertaking his first assignment in his late twenties as a security officer aboard a warbird.
Courted by a variety of eligible young officers, Tal was involved briefly in his youth with Vailani, the second child of Praetor Nevala (at the time Commander Nevala); however, the two parted on amicable terms when Tal was in his early 30's and he then became involved with Aliereth, whom he would eventually marry as they neared 50.
After their self-exile from the Empire (see above), Tal found his skills as a security officer to have extremely limited marketability within the Federation, as few trusted him enough to employ him; when his wife secured employment as a university professor he soon followed suit, making use of his gift for linguistics by making a living teaching his own notoriously complex language; not only to students at the university but also on the side to members of the Federation diplomatic corps and Starfleet. He quickly became renown as one of the premier instructors of such within the Federation, and continues to teach university classes and perform his contract work remotely, after he and his wife followed their eldest, Commander Kalahaiea t'Leiya, to the Gateway Sector when she was posted there, and later to Starbase Aeon.
Notes Of Interest
In addition to Romulan and Federation Standard, Tal speaks Vulcan, Tholian, Ferengi, Klingon, Betazoid, Rigellian, and Cardassian. He is an expert at several Romulan martial arts, a former competition champion skilled in both long and short blades, and an expert shot with a disruptor. Like most former security officers, he is also skilled in basic emergency medical techniques, although only as concerns his own species or those similar. In addition to armed and unarmed combat, he enjoys hiking, painting, and fast vehicles; shortly after his arrival in the Federation he secured a pilot's license and later taught his oldest daughter to fly, taking great pride when she later served as a fighter pilot before transferring to intelligence work.
Like his wife, he has never quite lost the regal bearing of his former station in life, nor the ironclad personal control imparted to him by his decades of service in the fleet. Absolutely dispassionate and calm during a crisis, he nevertheless has a wicked sense of humor at other times and a great enjoyment of life, although, like his wife, he also displays a great sense of sorrow — though no regret — over the circumstances which led to his isolation from his home and his own kind.
